I am the co-founder of Elite Sports Performance, a training facility that is located in Mentor, OH. Athletes seek out Elite Sports Performance due to our unique style of training, our competitive atmosphere, and most importantly because of the our results. Elite Sports Performance offers both training as well as nutritional services. While specializing in sports performance training and nutrition, Elite Sports Performance also works with non-athletes who are serious about reaching their fitness and health goals.
Before the launching of Elite Sports Performance, I attended Kent State University where I received my Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology. As a student, I gained valuable experience working in the Kent State University Exercise Physiology Lab as a research assistant.
I am a Certified Sports Nutritionist (CISSN) through the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) as well as being certified as a Youth Nutrition Specialist (YNS) through the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA). I am currently in pursuit of becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Athletic and Coaching Background
I’ve been an athlete my entire life. At a young age I played every sport that I could. I enjoyed the competitiveness and sense of team comradery that sports creates. Once I entered high school, I began to focus most of my energy on football and basketball. I’ve played collegiate football (John Carroll University), as well as collegiate rugby (Kent State University). Although I am currently retired from sports, I still enjoy training year-round to maintain my health and performance level.
Along with my own 12+ years of sports performance training, I also have coaching experience working with other individuals. These individuals include athletes striving to improve athletic performance, to non-athletes trying to lose body fat and improve overall health.
Nutrition is an essential aspect of strength training and weight management. Consequently, I made it a point to become thoroughly educated on the topic of nutrition and how it relates to human physiology. I also have experience consulting with individuals on how to use their diet to achieve their goals. In both groups of clients I’ve worked with (athletes and weight management), I’ve tailored nutritional plans to meet their nutritional needs and goals.
While I love working "in the trenches" with my clients, I also enjoy writing on the topics of nutrition and training. By writing various blogs and articles I am able to reach and help a larger audience achieve their fitness goals. I currently contribute to Elite Sports Performance's "Ask the Coach" as well as my own blog. I am also a contributing author to The Athletic Build, a website containing various articles on the topics of training and nutrition.
